GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. GIS is a system of hardware and software used for storage, retrieval, mapping, and analysis of geographic data. In simpler terms, a Geographic Infromation System, allows a municipality to take the data that they input into a database and push it out to an interactive mapping software. By doing this you give graphical access to the utilities in the counties water and sewer system.
